HappyTails Therapy Dogs Are you interested in Therapy Dog work? HappyTails Therapy Dogs is an informal group of volunteerTherapy Dog handler/dog teams that have joined together to support each other and increase the general publics knowledge of their mission. Any dog and handler team who have successfully tested and passed by a Therapy Dogs Inc. tester/observer and who is in good standing with Therapy Dogs Inc, are welcome to become part of our group. Our group also offers free Therapy Dog Preparation classes at the Bushnell Public Library to familiarize dog and handler teams with the equipment and skills necessary to pass the Therapy Dog Inc, test. Classes are taught by a Therapy Dogs Inc. tester/observer and students whom have previously gone through similar classes. Please note that this is not an obedience class. It is assumed that prospective dog and handler teams know basic obedience. Prospective dogs must be at least one year old. Dogs must be clean and well groomed, up to date on all required immunizations, and have a fecal check. Dogs should be willing to socialize and show no signs of aggression towards people or other animals. Our group maintains a very active calendar of facility visits through out Central Florida. These facilities include, but are not limited to; nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Hospice Houses, group homes, hospitals, new member classes and annual events such as our Christmas party and summer Bar-B-Que.
